Hills out of LA.
Hard to see but
approaching Imperial Valley.
Lunch.
Avocado Farms in
Imperial Valley.
More Guacamole
waiting to happen.
It is 100'+ but
maybe this is too much Guac.
Fruit Trees.
Oil wells.
Coastal Mountains
approaching Santa Barbara.
Picture to show
green as we've left treeless and returned to green again.
Wandered around
DLI for a while. Finally
got a replacement jacket at the PX. They had a nice DLI windbreaker and I
convinced an Air Force person to act as my purchasing agent.
View of the
Monterey Bay and one of the buildings at DLI. The school hasn't changed
much.
For those of you
who don't know Monterey Bay is blessed with it's own climate. The
temperature in the surroundng areas was triple digits. Monterey's high was
70. The water is even colder, it is the only place in the continental U.S.
that gets Sea Lion (the current is from the Arctic. Seen above are many of
Montereys homeless scratching themselves and begging for handouts.
Dinner on
Fishermans Wharf. Demaris is having clam chowder in a bread bowl. J is
having the fried seafood platter. Demaris is starting to freeze to death
as the temperature at 6:30 has dropped to about 65'.
Oh, Jay proposed to Demaris this evening. The wedding will probably be Jan. 2000. You're all invited.
