The following letters are a between myself, Jay Schneider a graduate student in the department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Oregon and Vladimir Maric a recent student in IT/CS student at Electrical Engineering Faculty, University of Belgrade. We have both agreed that these letters are open for any and all to read.
These letters started shortly after the bombings began in Serbia. Because of my general distrust of the mainstream news services, I felt I should try and contact someone in Belgrade. When I attempted to do this, I found all web sites in Yugoslavia to be down except for governmental sites and the University. I randomly searched the University site (very random as I speak no Serbian) and after going what I felt was sufficiently deep, sent an e-mail to someone who seemed to be a senior computer science student.
Follows are unedited transcripts of our messages. As the letters are very honest, the language in them is often extreme. If you are offended by strong language please go elsewhere.
